Winners Announced for the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” Celebration of Reading Student Writing Contest

Volunteer USA Foundation is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s student Celebration of Reading writing contest. The contest is part of the Foundation’s annual Celebration student event which this year will feature First Lady Ann Scott and Jeff Kinney, best-selling author of the popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series.
Students in Lee, Charlotte, Collier, Hendry and Glades counties (grades 4 – 7) were invited to participate by submitting wonderful and funny tales and illustrations based on Florida’s potentially chaotic storm seasons – from tropical storms to hurricane watches, this state has its fill of weather madness.

Contest winners, accompanied by their parents, will be recognized at a VIP breakfast, sponsored by Public Risk Insurance Agency of Brown & Brown, Inc. to kickoff Volunteer USA’s 12th Celebration of Reading event on February 17th, 2012. The students will enjoy breakfast with First Lady Scott and Jeff Kinney, as well as have the opportunity to share their winning short story.
